A distinctive characteristic of the program is its commitment to the development of professionals as agents of critical inquiry and social justice. This is done through a systematic focus on the social, cultural, philosophical and historical contexts of education. The educational policy and leadership program seeks to apply the university goals of Christian commitment and scholarship to settings related to educational practice and policy, especially in public and private schools and institutions of higher education, as well as other human service organizations."Master's and Doctoral Program: "The goal of the program is to engage the professional educator or other human-service organization leader in extended critical reflection on the principles, practices, and rationales of human-service leadership in contemporary society. Specifically, the program seeks to develop educational (elementary/secondary/college/university) and human-service organization leaders with expertise in the historical, philosophical, and sociological foundations of educational policy issues. The program is designed to accommodate the working professional, and program content is composed to reflect student backgrounds, interests, and professional objectives.
