Students are educated broadly in the field and choose from concentrations in: Industrial/Organization Psychology, Health Psychology or Program Evaluation. A guiding tenant of the program is the recognition of the inherent complexity of social problems and that effective solutions cross disciplines. Statistic and research methodology are used to verify the success of change. The faculty is strong in laboratory as well as field methodology. Psychology research labs are well equipped for students to explore interest areas such as psychophysiology, cognitive psychology, and social psychology and perception. Practical experience is an integral part of program coursework. Graduates are prepared to be agents and facilitators of change.     Accreditation Information: The Graduate School at UW-Stout is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools (NCA) to offer programs at the master's and education specialist levels.  # Of Credits Required: 48  Time To Degree: 2+ years full time    Previous Degrees BS/BA from an accredited institution and an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0. Applicants may be admitted on probationary status if their overall GPA is at least 2.75, but less than 3.0. These exceptions are subject to a strict limit of 10% of the students in the program and must be individually negotiated with the recommendation of the program director and the approval of the Graduate School.  Pre-Requisite Courses The pre-requisite requirements are as follows: 8 semester credits in research methods (1 course statistics), and 15 semester credits in psychology (preferably including 1 course from each of the following areas: psychology of learning or behavior modifications; personality, abnormal, mental health, individual differences; or general psychology).  International Student Requirements Admission requirements include: (1) Admission to a graduate degree program and the Graduate School; (2) English proficiency TOEFL score of at least 173 computer-based and 500 paper-based or 213 computer-based, 550 paper-based depending on which program is chosen, and 61 Internet-based. Test scores should be sent directly to UW-Stout (school code #1740); (3) Official copies of all post-secondary transcripts (translated into English), including proof of baccalaureate and/or highest earned degree; (4) Undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale; (5) specific program requirements.
