Pharmacy is a highly respected profession that is both challenging and rewarding. It offers many career opportunities in areas such as: clinical pharmacy, nuclear pharmacy, home infusion therapy, industry, managed care, general hospital and community pharmacy. The Doctor of Pharmacy program at Shenandoah University is offered in a "state-of-the-art" facility located on the Winchester Medical Center campus.

The online Non-traditional Doctor of Pharmacy (NTDP) program utilizes much of the innovative information technology that is woven throughout the traditional Doctor of Pharmacy program to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacist as a decision maker. The technology also serves to deliver educational content to you, the learner, when and where you would like to receive it.

There is one major goal of the cooperative Doctor of Pharmacy/Master of Business Administration (Pharm.D./MBA) program: To educate students to assume responsibilities as managers, administrators, consultants, and executives in health care systems designed to provide health care to customers. Health care managers need a broad organizational overview to successfully plan, organize, lead, and control in the dynamic health care environment.

Pharmacogenomics is the combination of two scientific fields: pharmacology (the study of drug action within the body) and genomics (the study of an individual's genome). Therefore, pharmacogenomics involves understanding how an individual's genetic make-up affects a body's response to drug therapy.
