On Campus

Impact the future - become a teacher through one of our graduate programs in elementary education, secondary education, or special education. Already a teacher? Then consider an endorsement in reading, language and literacy; gifted education; or special education. Each master’s degree program includes a specialized culminating activity that is appropriate to the content of the program. Students also have important field experiences prior to their student teaching semester. Because our students are placed in the same school for fall and spring semester, they are better prepared for their student teaching experience. The seminar that accompanies student teaching also allows more group discussion and university instructor feedback about their teaching experiences. William and Mary educators often achieve early recognition, gravitate to leadership roles and become innovators. The School of Education nurtures such traits. The School has graduated more teachers carrying the AACTE’s Meritorious New Teacher Candidate designation than all other Virginia institutions put together. Thirty-five states use a secondary school gifted-learning curriculum developed at the School of Education.

Accreditation Information: Professional teacher education programs are nationally recognized and accredited by the Virginia Department of Education and NCATE.
