Master's
M.A. - Cultural Politics
On Campus

This innovatory course offers the opportunity to study culture from an interdisciplinary perspective and covers four key issues: the place of culture within social theory; the interpretation of culture; the organisation and production of culture; and the relationship between culture and political action. It draws on political and sociological theory, as well as recent work on the social production of culture. It explores cultural forms ranging from fine art and mass media to popular music. The course encourages students with some expertise in the study of culture to develop this further within an interdisciplinary context. It is also valuable for students new to the subject who already have experience of the social sciences or the arts, which they wish to apply to the study of culture.
