Students interested in pursuing a Master of Education Degree in Language/Literacy Education may choose either a 36-hour non-thesis plan or a thesis plan. Graduate students have the opportunity to develop a program tailored to their interests in reading, writing, and literature. The Language/Literacy Education courses are designed so that students may choose a K-6 or K-12 focus on language and literacy learning.

Texas Tech offers a Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Students interested in focusing on Language/Literacy Education may design a program that includes substantial course work in this area. An 18-hour research core is a requirement of the College of Education. Students may develop expertise in qualitative or quantitative methodology, depending on their research interests. The research core provides students with the expertise to complete a dissertation that presents high quality, original research.
