Master of Engineering

The Master of Engineering degree is interdisciplinary, designed primarily for practicing engineers. The curriculum for the Master of Engineering program consists of 36 hours of coordinated graduate-level coursework. No more than 15 hours (5 courses) can be taken from any one engineering program, e.g., Industrial Engineering or Software Engineering. There are several tracks within the various Texas Tech University engineering disciplines that you can choose. Transfer credits for graduate coursework completed at an accredited university may be accepted for as much as 15 hours. All work credited toward the degree must be completed within nine calendar years. In addition to the regulations governing admission to the Graduate School, a baccalaureate degree in engineering, or its equivalent, is required for entrance to the Master of Engineering Program. Every candidate for a Master's degree is required to pass a final comprehensive examination; a thesis is not required. At the discretion of the advisory committee, the examination may be written, oral, or a combination of both.
