The Master of Science in Biology is designed for graduate students who wish to become knowledgeable leaders and professionals with an in-depth education, and specialized skills in the field of biology. This program promotes competency in the application of scientific methods of investigation to studies in biology. Faculty members have diverse research and teaching interests including: ecology, coastal and marine biology, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, plant biology (botany), animal biology (zoology), integrative biology (structure and function), life science education and biomedical sciences. Therefore students can choose from a variety of research topics and (with the help of their advisory committee) develop a degree plan tailored to their own interests and career plans. This freedom allows students to develop a sense of creative independence, and to succeed in their chosen professions and fields of scholarship.
