Carnegie Mellon's MA in English, with Concentrations in Rhetoric or Literary and Cultural Studies, is a flexible, two-semester program that prepares students for PhD work or for secondary-school teaching. The Concentration in LCS provides a bridge between traditional English majors and advanced training in literary and cultural theory. The Concentration in Rhetoric provided a generalist track for those wanting to explore the field, as well as special tracks in Discourse Studies and Intercultural Rhetoric.
