The master's degree program in Counselor Education at Duquesne is one of only four programs that are nationally accredited in Pennsylvania. The Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Program’s (CACREP) approval of the Duquesne program permits graduates to apply for national certification while in the last semester of study; this can save the graduate two years of post master's experience. The Marriage and Family Therapy program requires a minimum of 60 credits. The program enables graduates to obtain a License in Marriage and Family Therapy in Pennsylvania and pursue a career in marriage and family agencies and in private practice settings.
