Focuses on the study of a broad range of culturally significant texts and the historical and ideological conditions under which they have been produced and received. This is a unique degree for students interested in the major intellectual issues helping to define the discipline of English studies. The program offers course work in semiotics and post-structuralism, Marxist theory, literary theory, gender theory, media theory, and studies of various cultural periods and emergent literature's.
