Master's
Master of Communication Technology and Policy
On Campus

The program offers a broad understanding of IT, from the technical underpinnings of Internet and wireless technologies to social policy questions fundamental to universal telephone service to the business considerations of deploying broadband networks. Students choose an emphasis in technology or policy, but receive a foundation in both areas, as well as in the strategic factors involved in using IT to gain a competitive advantage. Technology topics include network theory and design, system security, network services and IT integration, broadband, and wireless communications. Policy topics include regulation, competition and market structures, international telecommunications, economic development, and social issues. This is a 50-hour program that can be completed in one year (including one summer) especially if the student elects to complete a comprehensive examination as a culminating experience, rather than a thesis or professional project.

Accreditation Information: Ohio University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
