The mission of the Graduate Literacy Education Program at St. John Fisher College is to prepare teachers who thoroughly understand both the theory and practice of literacy instruction and are well prepared to teach literacy in the modern school. The program is designed for three primary target populations: teachers wishing to specialize in literacy education; elementary or secondary teachers desiring more thorough preparation in teaching literacy in the classroom; special education teachers needing stronger preparation in literacy education. Candidates must be certified in some area of education before entering the M.S. Literacy program.
