More and more people are interested in healthy lifestyles, eating right, and feeling and looking good. Nutritionists and dietitians draw on backgrounds in science and apply that knowledge to help individuals and groups improve their health through proper nutrition and diet. NYU Steinhardt offers college graduates interested in nutrition, food, diet, fitness, health, and disease prevention a great start toward an exciting career in this field. Become a Registered Dietitian through our M.S. program in Nutrition and Dietetics. Apply your undergraduate credits in chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and anatomy and physiology toward your dietetics studies. Through course work, seminars, and applied practice, you'll use nutrition principles in the treatment of diet-related diseases; help individuals choose foods that will optimize health and prevent disease; manage human, financial, and physical resources to improve the nutritional status of individuals and population groups; and apply research principles and methods to examine current problems in nutrition. We also offer an M.S. program in Foods and Nutrition for students with professional credentials in health care (R.D., R.N., M.D., D.D.S., C.S.W., or R.Ph.) who seek to augment their professional knowledge with advanced academic preparation in foods and nutrition, but do not intend to practice as dieticians/nutritionists. Students may also consider our Public Health Nutrition concentration within the M.P.H. program in Community Public Health, which is accredited by the Council on Public Health Education. The department’s highly selective Ph.D. program in Nutrition and Dietetics offers an interdisciplinary program of advanced study that prepares graduates for teaching, research, administrative, and leadership positions in academic, public health, government, industry, and other institutions. Both master’s and doctoral students gain a global perspective through our popular summer study abroad progr
