Our fully accredited, 46-credit M.P.H. program in community public health, with separate specializations in community health, international community health, and public health nutrition, is designed for college graduates, mid-career professionals, and health workers interested in population-based approaches to improving the health and nutritional status of diverse, high-risk, and low-income communities. Practical, hands-on experience in diverse settings throughout New York City is integral to our curriculum. Required internships put students on the frontline of pressing public health issues, creating opportunities to plan programs, assess educational initiatives, and evaluate research projects with organizations ranging from the UN Development Fund for Women, to the Food Bank for New York City, and the Center for Immigrant Health. An R.D.-M.P.H. option is also available. A four-week summer study abroad initiative in South Africa provides exciting and unique opportunities for community-based applied learning; students may also participate in internships overseas with host organizations. The highly competitive Ph.D. in Public Health is an interdisciplinary program of advanced study in public health that prepares leaders in academic institutions, public and private sector organizations, and governmental agencies in state, national, and international settings.
