Master's
M.F.A.
On Campus

The Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) program in film production at the Tisch School of the Arts Asia campus is a concentrated three-year course of study that integrates theory and practice in an effort to develop individual creative filmmaking potential. The program in Singapore features the identical curriculum, equal length of study, same degree requirements, and similar state-of-the-art facilities and resources as its counterpart program in New York at the Tisch School's Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, Graduate Division.
The M.F.A. program provides detailed instruction and practical experience in every aspect of filmmaking, including writing, directing, acting, cinematography, editing, sound recording, and applied aesthetics. It also seeks to educate students in the workings of the industry and the demands of a career in film.
Tisch Asia's program has all the amenities and resources required for the elaboration and completion of films and video. Moreover, celebrated award-winning teachers from the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television will be in residence in Singapore as part of the full-time training faculty. A program in film animation will be offered beginning in the fall of 2008.
Admission is competitive, and the requirements are exactly the same as for the New York M.F.A. program in film production. A bachelor's degree is required, and, because all classes and training are in English, nonnative English-speaking applicants need to submit TOEFL scores.
An M.F.A. program in dramatic writing (for stage, screen, and television) will be offered at the Tisch Asia campus beginning in the fall of 2008.
