The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers graduate instruction leadingto the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. A number of teaching assistantships are usually available. Students applying for regular admission to graduate study in mathematics are expected to have 24 credits of upper-division courses in mathematics and statistics,including a three-credit course in modern algebra and a three-credit course in modern analysis. Students failing to meet these requirements may be admitted with deficiencies and allowed to complete the requirements at New Mexico State University.
