The Department of History offers graduate work leading to the Master of Arts degree. In addition to fulfilling the basic requirements for admission to the Graduate School, including taking the aptitude test of the Graduate Record Examination, applicants must present undergraduate preparation of at least 12 credits in history. Those lacking this preparation may make up deficiencies either before or during graduate study. Candidates who choose a course of study requiring a foreign language will be responsible for their own language preparation. Those pursuing the public history option master's degree who may require familiarity with computers will be responsible for such preparation.
