The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is devoted to the preparation of master educators for public, private, and governmental institutions. Graduates are prepared to serve as directors of instruction and curriculum, subject matter specialists, supervisors of student teaching and college professors of curriculum and instruction. Programs leading to the Doctor of Education are designed to provide advanced professional training and develop further ability in the scholarly study of problems. These programs are intended primarily for students pursuing careers in which teaching, administration, or educational services in business and industry as well as schools predominate rather than those in which research predominates.
