Fairleigh Dickinson University's doctoral program in School Psychology is an innovative, applied professional psychology program that leads to the Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree. The program is offered through the School of Psychology, a unit of University College: Arts + Sciences + Professional Studies, and is based on FDU's Teaneck-Hackensack Campus. The program's emphasis is on providing students with practical skills directly applicable to their daily work with children, youth and families. Established in the fall of 1997, the program is designed to meet the specific accreditation standards of the American Psychological Association (APA); plans call for the pursuit of APA-accreditation at the earliest possible date. FDU's other doctoral program -- the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology -- is fully accredited by the APA, and students in the PsyD. program in School Psychology share many of the same courses and learning experiences. The Psy.D. in School Psychology builds upon the master's degree training and experiences of each student. Its goal is to prepare professionals who will be leaders in the design, evaluation, provision and supervision of comprehensive mental health and psychoeducational services to children, youth and families.

Accreditation Information: Fairleigh Dickinson University is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
