On Campus

Drew’s Master of Arts in Teaching program leads to an M.A.T. degree and provisional teaching certification in biology, chemistry, English, math, Spanish, or social studies. The focus of the program is to train teachers who can prepare students for the challenges of the Global Age. Coursework stresses the development of 21st Century Skills: sophisticated critical thinking and analytical skills, the transferability of knowledge and skills, a deeper understanding of other cultures, and the knowledge of global trends within students’ own subject areas. The Drew M.A.T. program is designed for college graduates who wish to obtain provisional certification within a one-year period. It offers a small, personal, and highly supportive environment. Students are part of a cohort that enters in June and graduates the following May. Students pursue both their field work and student teaching internship in partner schools that have been carefully selected for excellence and innovation. In addition to professional education courses, students take three graduate courses in their subject areas.
