Creighton University's MS degree in Nursing prepares graduates for advanced practice in a changing and challenging health care environment. All students complete a series of broadly focused core courses and selects a clinical focus and a role option. Clinical focus choices are adult health, cardiac rehabilitation, family or neonatal intensive care nursing. Role option choices are educator, manager, clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner. Creighton University School of Nursing offers a Master of Science degree with a major in nursing dedicated to preparing nurses with advanced knowledge and skills to respond to challenges in the health care system and assume leadership in managing quality, cost-effective care. Creighton's Master of Science program is dedicated to educating baccalaureate prepared registered nurses for roles as Clinical Nurse Leaders, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Nurse Practitioners. All graduate students complete requirements for master's core courses. Students considering the nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, and clinical nurse leader role options will also complete the master's role core and/or support courses and practicum courses necessary to meet clinical standards required for the specific role option. Nurse educators and nursing systems administrators will complete specialty courses in their respective fields. A post-master's certificate is available for master's prepared nurses who seek to become eligible for national certification as a nurse practitioner or clinical specialist.
