The graduate program provides a supportive environment in which students can advance their education and careers. The curriculum centers on the role of human communication in the construction, maintenance, and change of relationships, organizations, and societies. Students learn to study and teach how communication can enhance or diminish lives and communities. The faculty consists of experienced teachers who are leaders in, and major contributors to, the communication discipline. Students secure a strong foundation in theory and research but also learn how research informs practice. Upon graduation masters' students typically take positions in business or education, and doctoral students teach at colleges and universities.
