Doctoral
Ph.D. - Social and Administrative Sciences
On Campus

The focus of the program in social and administrative sciences is on assessing and improving the quality of medication use and pharmacy practice. The program helps students develop strong methodological skills and to understand the larger health care environment they will enter when they graduate. This is achieved through academic course work and research at the pre-dissertation and dissertation level, which may focus on different health care environments. Faculty interests include evaluating medication use in specific populations based upon disease state, age, and race; understanding the decision-making behaviors of patients and health care professionals; examining the socialization and career processes of pharmacists and pharmacy students; and evaluating programs to improve the outcomes and cost effectiveness of medication therapy.
