Graduate studies in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department is oriented toward the doctorate, with emphasis on scholarship and research rather than formal course work. In addition a Master of Science in Engineering degree program is offered. Although graduate students in the department have usually majored in electrical engineering or computer engineering as undergraduates, it is not uncommon to find graduate students in the program who have majored in mathematics, physics, computer science, or other fields closely related to electrical and computer engineering.
