Northeastern's graduate programs offer in-depth understanding of both effective teaching methods and the subject students plan to teach. Students are prepared to meet the ever-rising expectations of teachers at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Programs give students ample experience in diverse school settings and lead to Massachusetts teacher certification. A particular emphasis on urban education and Northeastern's involvement with Boston public schools - the most extensive of any university in the area - help students apply their academic and teaching abilities in places in which they have great impact. Working in a part-time paid internship or as a full-time teacher, students have nearly immediate classroom contact with young people in middle and high schools.
