MATESL - Master of Arts in the Teaching of English as a Second Language
On Campus

Within the Division, the degree available to graduate students is the Master of Arts in the Teaching of English as a Second Language (MATESL) degree. For those wishing to continue on toward a doctorate, the Division cooperates with other departments offering doctoral programs in which a student can specialize in various theoretical and applied aspects of second language learning and pedagogy as applied to the English Language. DEIL's MATESL program is one of the largest in the nation and has a distinctly international flavor. Approximately sixty percent of the 80 to 90 graduate students enrolled each year are from outside the United States.
