Master's
M.E.M. - Master of Engineering Management
On Campus

The mix of management concepts and technical focus presented in the MEM Program allows working professionals to acquire the management skills necessary to advance in today's technical world. * Unlike a graduate degree in a science or engineering specialty, the MEM degree offers the practical business perspective needed by technical managers. * Unlike a traditional MBA program, the MEM Program emphasizes skills specifically required in technology-based organizations. * Classes are held Monday - Thursday in the evening from 6:30-9:00 PM. * All courses are offered on Northwestern’s Evanston campus and selected courses are offered in the MEM classroom in Schaumburg. * Up to two elective classes can be taken at the Kellogg School of Management. * Courses are offered throughout the year – all 4 quarters – but you do not have to take classes every quarter. * Applications are accepted throughout the year so that students can begin the program during any academic quarter. * The curriculum consists of 12 courses and is usually completed in 2-3 years. * MEM offers a three-course Northwestern Engineering Credentials option for those who do not need or are not ready for a degree program. * Tuition is paid per course to allow students to spread the cost and keep within their company’s tuition reimbursement policy. * The MEM faculty are drawn from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences (which is rated #7 in the country) and from practitioners who bring to the classroom their industry and consulting experience. * The MEM students are experienced engineers and technical professionals from a diverse assortment of local organizations. * MEM students have access to Northwestern University’s career counseling services, libraries, and University e-mail and sports facilities. * MEM alumni have access to Northwestern University Alumni services.
