M.A. - Education (Teaching Art)

The M.A. program in art education is administered by the School of Art and Art History in cooperation with the College of Education. Students make application for admission to the School of Art and Art History. The purpose of the program is to prepare highly qualified teachers of art for elementary and secondary schools and community colleges. The strong academic emphasis of this program assists teachers who are themselves creative artists to become highly literate in the history and language of art.

The doctoral program in art education is administered by the College of Education with the cooperation of the School of Art and Art History. Students make application for admission to the College of Education. The program prepares college teachers and researchers in art education and supervisors of art in state departments of education and school systems. It also provides students with an opportunity to continue inquiry and creative work in art history and in studio.
