School Counseling Community and Mental Health Counseling.Students are trained to assess problems, select appropriate intervention strategies, counsel clients, and consult with other professionals and administrators.The major goals of the program are to train practitioners who provide helping interventions for individuals, group, and organizations; serve as effective counselors in schools or community agencies; provide leadership in educational and human services settings; utilize the resources of the family, school, and the community to meet the developmental needs of the client; facilitate the expertise, growth, and understanding of fellow counselors and students through contributions to professional literature, organizations and meetings.
