Chemistry has been called the central science. Almost all substances and processes are affected or controlled by events at the molecular level and are by their very essence dependent upon chemicals and chemical processes.

We offer extensive interdisciplinary research endeavors that allow students to broaden their background.

Knowledge of chemical properties is essential for the development of pharmaceuticals, and personal care products, as well as the design of specialty chemicals and materials engineered to address specific problems or applications.

We are an emerging university in a high-growth area that is undergoing considerable expansion in the scientific, technological, and medical fields.

We have strong collaborative research efforts with the College of Engineering, the Medical School, and the College of Public Health, all within walking distance of the Department of Chemistry

We have a low graduate student-to-faculty ratio. Moreover,we have an internationally known faculty that publishes actively. In addition, we have modern libraries with long running journal collections and contemporary computer on-line search capabilities.

The Department of Chemistry provides individual access to on-line computer searching of Chemical Abstracts and their databases. The excellent computing facilities of the University and the Department of Chemistry are available to all Chemistry Graduate Students.

Application deadlines are as follows: Fall: May 1; Spring: October 1; and Summer: January 1
