The program is focused on Asia, broadly defined as including East Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East. The program combines area or country-specific courses that give students that needed cultural immersion with more general comparative course work. This is intended to provide students with the necessary intellectual tools, concepts and theories to understand their particular disciplinary concentrations as well as be able to pull from the various disciplines the skills to evaluate not only Asia's past, present, and future but the role of Asia within the context of the world.
