The Department of Reading and Language Arts offers an MS degree program and a Sixth Year Certificate. The master's level study plan includes courses that enable a student to obtain knowledge of the reading process and teaching reading/language arts in regular classrooms. The MS may also contain diagnostic, corrective, and clinical experiences required for Connecticut certification in remedial reading. The Sixth Year program in reading leads to the award of a professional certificate. This program may contain course work necessary for state endorsement as a Reading and Language Arts Consultant.
