At Pacific Oaks College, students may design a program whereby the majority of classes may be taken online. The M.A. and B.A. degrees are offered in Human Development; students may opt for a specialization in Early Childhood Education. Additional M.A. specialization's include Leadership and Bicultural Development. Sixty to seventy units of general education course work are required for students without a B.A. Additionally, mature students without a completed B.A., may qualify for admission through the Assessment By Life Experience (ABLE) option toward either the M.A. or the B.A. degree. For those who already hold a Master's degree, but wish to participate in the Pacific Oaks learning process, we offer a postgraduate Certificate for Advanced Study in Human Development, Early Childhood Education, Bicultural Development and Leadership in Education and Human Services. All online degree students (with the exception of the Postgraduate Certificate students) must take at least two classes on-site. Most distance-learning students take advantage of the one-week long courses offered in January and in the summer at two West Coast locations (Pasadena and Oakland, California). Weekend classes and summer sessions are also available.
