Students in the Cultural Studies Department study the nature, origins, production, distribution, and persistence of contemporary and past cultures. The programs approach topics from a variety of perspectives, studying the theories, canons, and paradigmatic assumptions of several disciplines. Students develop a course of study giving them intellectual depth in at least one traditional humanities or social science field as well as the theoretical, multidisciplinary breadth of cultural studies.
