On Campus

Named for fallen Challenger astronaut, Dr. Ronald E. McNair, funded by the U.S. Department of Education/TRiO Programs, and one of 179 programs at universities throughout the country, the Ronald E. McNair Post - Baccalaureate Achievement Program was established at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), Prescott, Arizona in 1999.The primary goal of the McNair Scholars Program is to provide experiences that prepare selected undergraduate students for doctoral study. The overriding goal of the McNair programs is to increase the number of underrepresented students who will obtain doctoral degrees and go on to teach and/or do research in institutions of higher learning.A major component of the program is the relationship developed between participants and their designated faculty mentors. Working together, mentors and office staff help to motivate and to ensure that participants:Successfully complete their undergraduate degree, Receive guidance in finding sources of financial support, Successfully select graduate schools and degree programs, and Acquire skills needed for successful admission and completion of their Ph.D. degrees.
