The Division of Family Studies and Human Development (FSHD) maintains active research, outreach, and extension programs. The mission of the Division of Family Studies and Human Development is to provide excellence in research, teaching, and outreach that strengthens children, youth, and families. Our vision is to become the premier program in Family Studies and Human Development through timely and diverse scholarship.

Our graduate program offers doctoral level training for students interested in pursuing research, teaching, or other professional careers in academic, public, and private-sector settings.  There are many exciting aspects of our program.  We have strong faculty, including four assistant professors who recently joined our faculty and two endowed chairs. We recently moved into a new 72,000 square foot building, specifically designed with research, teaching, and outreach goals in mind. We have a strong graduate student culture and history of funding graduate students.
