The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers two Master's degrees, Master of Science (M.S.) (thesis option) and Master of Software Engineering (M.Sw.E.) (project option), as well as the Ph.D. degree. The department currently has over 400 undergraduate majors and 80 graduate students. It offers bachelor's degrees in both Computer Science and Software Engineering. The students within the department are quite involvedprofessionally, as evidenced by active chapters of ACM, IEEE-CS, and UPE. The faculty is committed to a balanced program in both instruction and research, with the goal of achieving excellence in Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Parallel Computation, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Language Theory and Compilers, Human/Computer Interaction, and Hardware/Software Codesign.
