First Night of Buffalo - This is Buffalo's annual New Year's Eve celebration. It is an alcohol-free event that is aimed at being family-friendly. It generally takes place downtown at several venues between 5 and 10p.m. on December 31. Festivities include live entertainment, music and multiple food vendors. Ticket price for "buttons" are $6 in advance or $10 at the door.

Allentown Art Festival - The Allentown Art Festival is held in the Allentown Historic Preservation District of Buffalo. Every year tens of thousands of art enthusiasts make their way to the festival. Over 400 artists and exhibitors have put their works on display at past festivals. The event takes place every June.

Brown Bag Concert Series - The University of Buffalo's students and faculty musicians entertain patrons during their lunch hour. While visitors are encouraged to bring their own lunch, free perks include Starbucks coffee and tickets to upcoming performances. This unique musical experience takes place in Slee Hall on the University of Buffalo's campus on Tuesdays at noon between February and April.

NohCon - The recent trend of Japanese anime has found a home in Buffalo. University of Buffalo faculty have played a large roll in teaming with the Daemen College Anime Club. Previous events have featured contests. The fest, which took place this year in early March, has its own website at www.nohcon.com.

Taste of Buffalo - This virtual cornucopia of food has more than 15 different varieties of ethnic food from more than 50 local restaurants. Typical cuisine includes Greek, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Mexican and Southwestern in addition to traditional American dishes. Each restaurant brings three menu items ranging in price from 50 cents to $3. More than 400,000 people attend this event in July, making it one of the largest festivals Buffalo has to offer.

Parkside Tour of Homes - This unique day features a tour of homes in the historic Parkside neighborhood. Homeowners and knowledgeable guides lead visitors through homes that may range from Victorian to arts-and-crafts-style. Generally, the tour begins at the Church of the Good Shepherd and takes place in mid-May.

Hellenic Festival - Buffalo's Greek population celebrates the culture's influences during this annual weekend festival in June. The weekend includes traditional Greek foods and entertainment and a wide range of Hellenic music and art. The weekend is held at the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, and admission is only $1 for people 13 years of age and over.
