Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (M.S.O.M.)
On Campus

Oriental medicine has successfully brought healing and well-being to patients for over 3,000 years by providing natural, drug-free and surgery-free health care with proven clinical results. National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) offers two advanced degree programs that allow graduates to bring these ancient healing arts to patients in today’s modern health care environment: the Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) and the Master of Science in Acupuncture (MSAc). National’s nine-trimester Master of Science in Oriental Medicine program provides comprehensive training in the Five Branches of Oriental Medicine: acupuncture; herbal medicine; oriental nutrition and dietary therapy; Tui Na — oriental bodywork therapy; and Qigong and Tai Chi —therapeutic massage. Students receive a solid foundation in classical Chinese medical theory as well as modern oriental medical theories and techniques from China, Japan, Korea, France, etc. In addition to a solid foundation in Asian medical science, MSOM students also learn fundamental biomedical science and modern medical diagnostics including coursework in radiology, pathology, physiology, microbiology, and public health. As one of only two institutions in the U.S. to integrate chiropractic, oriental and naturopathic medicine on one campus, National students are able to dialogue together, share collaborative research and clinical care opportunities, and work together to provide their future patients with the best of natural health care. In National’s on-site clinical facilities, MSOM students gain clinical exposure early into the curriculum, allowing for immediate real world application of theoretical concepts learned in the classroom. An MSOM degree from National allows graduates to take national board exams and achieve certification in most states to practice oriental medicine and to meet the challenges of integrative care positions in hospitals and managed care settings.
