The Bard Center for Environmental Policy equips future policy makers for the complex interplay of science, law, economics, and politics that defines contemporary environmental challenges. Each class uses case studies and theoretical scenarios to illuminate basic principles and practice analytic skills. Our innovative curriculum investigates the impact of socioeconomic activities on natural ecosystem functioning and examines various political, institutional, and legislative responses to environmental problems. Throughout their two years at Bard, BCEP students are personally advised and mentored by a distinguished faculty of academic and professional experts. Students are required to complete a professional internship within the NGO, government, or private sector. Graduates of the BCEP program are employed throughout the United States and abroad as policy analysts, advisers, consultants, and advocates for public and private institutions.
