The Master of Arts in Communication, Media and Cultural Studies explores media
and culture through the research traditions of media and cultural studies. The
program engages with the history, theoretical innovations, research methodologies,
and critical practices of knowledge production in these areas of study. The
program is conceived in response to growing trends and shifts in media culture,
as well as the current and projected need for active citizenship within local and
global societies. The program addresses the notion of active citizenship through
an interrogation of the relationship between and among media, representation,
the public, and culture.   Successful M.A. graduates will gain a number of advantages from this program, including the opportunity to continue their graduate study in PhD. programs both nationally and internationally. Others will find this program useful for
enhancing their credentials and establishing themselves in innovative ways in a
variety of fields, including teaching, production, publishing, writing, law, business
and consulting.
