UND College of Nursing’s PhD in Nursing distance degree program prepares you for research and faculty roles with a research emphasis on the nursing care of vulnerable and diverse populations.

Education in nursing at the doctoral level prepares advanced nurse clinicians to become nurse scientists. Throughout the doctoral program, you will discover, understand, and critically evaluate the literature in nursing and related fields and apply appropriate principles and procedures to the recognition, evaluation, interpretation, and understanding of issues and problems at the forefront of nursing knowledge.

          How Distance Degrees Work

The full-time or part-time program is designed for working professionals who are unable to attend traditional, on-campus classes.

As an online student, you have the opportunitiy to:

  • interact with your instructors and other students using Web-conferencing technology. "Core" PhD courses require you to participate in "live" Web classes and discussions that are held at set times the first full Wednesday through Saturday of each month.
  • review recorded classroom lectures and discussions that are accessed through the Internet at any time.

This program REQUIRES 1 to 2 brief (3 to 7 days) Intensives held yearly on the UND campus or at a regional nursing conference.

          Tuition

Regardless of where you live, you will pay in-state tuition for all online courses.

Accreditation Information: The on-campus and distance nursing degree programs offered by UND College of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
