PO Box 15045 Flagstaff, AZ 86011-5045 US   Phone: 1-928-523-2969   At a Glance Program Requirements Tuition & Financial Aid Institution Overview Important Dates Upcoming Events Degrees: Program Format: Master's M.S.-Clinical Speech Pathology On Campus   The Graduate Program in Communication Sciences and Disorders is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Graduates are awarded a Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Speech Pathology. The program has a strong clinical emphasis which places a high premium on addressing the communicative and learning needs of culturally and linguistically diverse populations and includes a comprehensive, up-to-date array of academic course work and clinical practica that mirror current needs in the field. Program offerings include a traditional, full-time track and a four-summer "Summers-Only" track.. The Summers-Only track involves being on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus for three consecutive summers, as well as taking on-line courses and participating in practica experiences each of the intervening spring and fall semesters; the fourth summer comprises an externship experience. Some of the courses taken in the summer sessions may also be offered in an on-line format. The 63-semester-credit-hour program consists of 45 credit hours of academic course work, 6 credit hours of clinical practicum, and a 12-credit-hour clinical externship. With approval, students may transfer up to 15 specific semester credit hours from another graduate program toward their graduate degree at NAU. Graduate students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty who are ASHA-certified and who have extensive experience and specialized training in various aspects of clinical speech-language pathology, audiology, or speech, language and hearing science. Some faculty may be visiting professors who are prominent leaders in the field from other universities.
