UND College of Education & Human Development’s Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling with an Emphasis in School Counseling prepares you to promote the academic, career, personal, and social development of K-12 students.
Completion of coursework leads to licensure from the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction as a school counselor, and is compatible with licensure requirements in other states. Through online courses and practical experiences, you will be prepared to assist students in elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools.
How Distance Degrees Work
You will receive the convenience of distance learning with the personal contact and connection of "live" instruction through Web-based, online courses. The class lectures, discussion, and collaboration are conducted in a very similar fashion to traditional on-campus classes.
During both summer semesters of your distance program, you will attend two 4-day weekend sessions on the UND campus in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
You will be required to participate in a 1-semester, supervised school counseling practicum (150 hours) and a 2-semester internship (400-600 hours) in a K-12 school setting, as available in or near your local community.
Tuition
Regardless of where you live, you will pay in-state resident tuition for all online courses.
