Through the JLCP program, we offer Master’s and Doctoral degrees, and provide numerous opportunities for graduate research funding and teaching assistantships. Within GMU and the College of Humanities and Social Science, the ADJ Department is one of the leading Departments in graduate student funding. Our curriculum focuses upon three core areas of which our faculty specialize: criminology and crime policy, law and society, and justice organizations and management. By taking this diverse and broad approach to our discipline, our graduate program seeks to reflect the many needs of crime and justice institutions, so as to train students to become influential researchers in these areas. Our graduate education begins in the classroom, but you will receive hands-on experience working closely with faculty on projects that make a difference in justice, law, and crime policy. These projects produce research in leading academic journals. The faculty advise policy makers and practitioners at all levels of government in the United States and abroad—ranging from police officers to prime ministers, corrections officers to Congress. Additionally, we have three active research centers that reflect these core areas that support graduate student research and serve to connect faculty and students to decision makers in the crime and justice field: the Center for Justice Leadership and Management (led by Dr. Stephen Mastrofski), the Center for Justice, Law and Society (led by Dr. Jon Gould) and the Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy (led by Dr. David Weisburd).
