The Department has a Master of Science Program in Couple and Family Therapy, accredited by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). The program provides students with the coursework and supervised clinical experience required in states with Marriage and Family Therapy licensure. The curriculum requires 51 credits for the thesis option and 48 credits for the non-thesis option, and students have the opportunity for students to complete 500 hours of supervised client contact. Full-time students generally complete the program in 2 years. The Ph.D. in Family Science is a research-oriented program requiring 51 graduate credit hours beyond a Masters degree. The curriculum focuses on family theory, family policy, ethnic families, family law, research methodology, and development of culturally-sensitive family programs. This program can be completed within three years (Post-Masters) by a full-time student. Students admitted to the Ph.D. program with a Baccalaureate degree must complete a M.S. in Family Science or Marriage and Family Therapy en route to the Ph.D.
