Master's
M.A.-Art History
On Campus

East Tennessee State University’s M.A. in art history is a small program.  Most courses combine graduate and advance undergraduate level.  30 graduate credits in art history (10 courses @ 3 credits each), including Research Methods for Art Historians and Thesis.  Students must pass a translation exam in one foreign language used in art historical research (usually French or German, although another language appropriate to the student’s research area may be substituted with permission).  We recommend that graduate students take three graduate courses a semester (9 credits) for three semesters and Thesis the final semester (two academic years). Students will work closely with the professor in their specialty.

Accreditation Information: ETSU's Department of Art and Design is an accredited institutional member of National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Additionally, the department holds membership in the College Art Association and other professional art organizations.
