The Food Science Graduate Program at Purdue University is interdepartmental and one of the best in the country. The Food Science Department is located in a new building containing the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities including an excellent Pilot Plant. Both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are offered in three major areas of specialization:Food Chemistry (Molecular structure and functionality, Molecular techniques, Enzymology, Phytochemicals, Toxicology) Food Microbiology (Safety, Nanotechnology, Molecular biology) Food Processing (Engineering, Modeling, On-line sensors, Packaging, Sensory)Our Centers of excellence are: Food Safety Engineering Center Center for Enhancing Foods to Protect Health Whistler Center for Carbohydrate Research Computer Integrated Food Manufacturing Center Botanicals Center The Program will provide outstanding graduate education in both theory and practice of Food Science.
