Our program is designed to give you an edge in gaining entry into a doctoral program in psychology (including Clinical or Counseling Psychology), and to provide you with the skills and qualifications needed to pursue a career immediately if you choose. The curriculum has an experimental focus, and involves a combination of coursework and working closely with faculty on research. A student-oriented atmosphere and low student/faculty ratio offer you the opportunity to become involved in research quickly, while the diverse training of our faculty provide a wide range of study areas, including Cognition, Developmental, Clinical, Social, Sensation and Perception, Personality, Psychology of Religion, Health, and Physiological psychology. The program also offers an optional teaching emphasis, which involves one-on-one mentoring from dedicated teachers as well as in-class teaching experience. The teaching emphasis prepares you to teach psychology at the college level.

Accreditation Information: The PsyD program at Georgia Southern is new and is pursuing accreditation by the American Psychological Association
